This Privacy Statement outlines when and why I collect personal data, which personal data I collect, how I use them, the limited conditions under which I may disclose them to others, and how I keep them secure.

Why I process your personal data
I collect, retain and use your personal data for the purposes of issuing a quotation, providing translation services that you request or complying with legal requirements. I will not use your personal data for marketing purposes. I will not disclose your personal data to third countries. Personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and ID or BSN. In exceptional cases (e.g. in case of sworn translations of personal documents) personal data collected may include your date of birth or other personal information.
The legal basis for processing your data is the performance of the services you have requested or the taking of necessary measures prior to fulfilling that request.
Who else receives your personal data?
If I send a text for revision or editing to a colleague, that text will be anonymised, so that your personal data will not appear. For administrative purposes, other parties may have access to your personal data, including my accountant and my website and email hosting services. All these parties are GDPR-compliant.
How long I keep your personal data
Data in relation to quotations will be retained for up to six months. In case of work carried out, I am obliged to retain your personal data for seven years in order to comply with tax obligations. I will delete email communications after five years.
Personal data security
I have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure your personal data. These measures have been selected on the basis of the available technology, the implementation costs, the type of personal data that I process for you and the risks attached thereto. I aim to have such measures comply with the requirements in Article 32 of the GDPR.
If I discover that there has been a data breach, I will notify you of this within 48 hours. Following my notification, you can determine whether or not the data breach should be reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. I will not do so myself, because you are responsible for the legal obligations in that respect.
Your data access rights
You are entitled to view the personal data in my possession or to have them rectified or removed. Please email your request directly to me, and I will act upon this as soon as possible, though within one month from the date of your request.
Your right to lodge a complaint
Should you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please contact me. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in the Netherlands or in the country where you live.
This Privacy Statement was updated on 16 May 2019 and will be reviewed as and when necessary. Should any differences occur between the various language versions, the Dutch language version will prevail.
